Character Questionnaire

You can now dedicate your personalized novel to the lucky recipient, as well as select from a variety of special messages! Type in the recipient's name exactly as you wish it to appear (40 characters or fewer), then the name of the gift giver (usually your own name). Finally, choose your dedication message from the drop-down box. (The default message is "Much Love." Don't want any? Choose "No Message.")

We personalize our paperback front covers and the first pages of our hard covers, and they look absolutely stunning! Just think of your personalized novel on the bookshelf or coffee table with your heroine and/or hero's name highlighted in big bold letters. Additionally, if you choose to have a photo added to the back cover for paperbacks and hardcover editions, the names selected will also be included on the back cover. With eBook editions the names will appear under the photo displayed on the second page of the book.

Our "main" character begins and leads the story. S/he is a gifted musician who constantly strives to improve his or her artistic skills, which (in this fantasy world) also create some magic. With his/her best friend, the lead character risks everything to find a cure for a mysterious illness that has stricken the community, including his/her (fictional) older sister. Full of curiosity and compassion, this character also has a sense of humor and loves adventure. Sometimes s/he is rather reckless, taking on dangerous quests to help others, but succeeds thanks to determination and creative talent. All these experiences teach the character valuable lessons about friendship and having confidence in one's abilities.

When entering the main character's name, include the most commonly used version, for example, Mike for Michael or Nan for Nancy. Feel free to use a nickname.

Descriptions of hair color, length and type as well as eye color are included within the text of the book - so select the basic description that best suits the person you have picked to be the main character. If you are not sure of a feature, don't worry... pick one - it's a fantasy.

The friend in the story plays a fun and indispensable role, cajoling and supporting the main character in all the ways best friends do! This character has (fictional) parents and an older sister, all of whom fall ill and are saved by the friends' quest to find the magical cure. Like the main character, the friend is musically talented and cares deeply for others and is willing to undergo quests to save and/or improve their lives. The friends' loyalty to one another, to support each other's musical talents, and ability to work as a team are what truly save the day.

Suggestions for the 'friend' character would be a close friend or neighbor, a brother or sister, a cousin, classmate, or even a TV character. If you can't think of a name for the 'friend' in the book (or there are too many to select from) relax - choose a favorite cartoon, movie or television character or make one up.

Choose the commonly used first name for the person you have selected. For instance - use Bob instead of Robert if he is usually called 'Bob'.

Descriptions of the friend's hair and eye color aren't used often within the story, so don't worry if you can't remember or don't know. Sometimes it's fun to make it up - for added fun include 'spiky red hair'!

The adult is a supportive parent/guardian who is sometimes exasperated by our main character's reckless ways, but clearly approves of the child's artistic abilities. This character deeply cares for the main character and his/her (fictional) sister. The adult plays a relatively minor role compared to our main characters.

This character could be a relative of the 'Main Character' such as Mom, Dad, Grandparents, Aunt, Uncle or an adult friend. You can also include combinations of names such as 'Uncle Tim' or 'Granny Sue'.

If the book is being given as a gift by an adult, the 'adult character' is an ideal place to put the gift-giver's name.

If you can't think of an 'adult' or don't wish to put your name in the book, think about selecting a cartoon, movie or television character.
