Character Questionnaire

You can now dedicate your personalized novel to the lucky recipient, as well as select from a variety of special messages! Type in the recipient's name exactly as you wish it to appear (40 characters or fewer), then the name of the gift giver (usually your own name). Finally, choose your dedication message from the drop-down box. (The default message is "Much Love." Don't want any? Choose "No Message.")

We personalize our paperback front covers and the first pages of our hard covers, and they look absolutely stunning! Just think of your personalized novel on the bookshelf or coffee table with your heroine and/or hero's name highlighted in big bold letters. Additionally, if you choose to have a photo added to the back cover for paperbacks and hardcover editions, the names selected will also be included on the back cover. With eBook editions the names will appear under the photo displayed on the second page of the book.

Our "main" character embarks upon an adventurous journey after finding a mystical golden key hidden at the end of a rainbow. The search for the door to which the key belongs inspires the remainder of the journey. Our hero/heroine is joined by a friend and together they cross the 'Land of Shadows' but they become lost and are separated. Our main character is guided throughout the story by the Fairy Godmother, The Old Man of the Sea, The Old Man of the Earth, and the oldest man of all, The Old Man of Fire. Together they help reunite our dynamic duo! The story expands on the theme of the value of friendship, perseverance and the importance of following your dreams.

When entering the main character's name, include the most commonly used version, for example, Mike for Michael or Nan for Nancy. Feel free to use a nickname.

Descriptions of hair color, length and type as well as eye color are included within the text of the book - so select the basic description that best suits the person you have picked to be the main character. If you are not sure of a feature, don't worry... pick one - it's a fantasy!!

The friend in The Golden Key travels with the main character for part of the story but when they become separated our friend pledges to find and reunite with our main character. Climbing rocky mountain faces and braving windswept seas, our characters succeed in reuniting after much perseverance, hardship and courage!

Suggestions for the 'friend' character would be a close friend or neighbor, a brother or sister, a cousin, classmate, or even a TV character! If you can't think of a name for the 'friend' character in the book (or there are too many to select from) relax - choose a favorite cartoon, movie or television character or make one up.

Choose the commonly used first name for the person you have selected. For instance - use Bob instead of Robert if he is usually called 'Bob'.

Descriptions of the friend's hair and eye color aren't used often within the story, so don't worry if you can't remember or don't know. Sometimes it's fun to make it up - for added fun include 'spiky red hair'!

The 'adult character' generally provide words of wisdom. Of course the true wisdom of these words only become apparent at the end of the story when our 'main character' and 'friend' return after a major adventure. The 'adult character' plays a relatively minor role within the story compared to our main characters. The character could be a relative of the 'Main Character' such as Mom, Dad, Grandparent or an adult friend. You can also include combinations of names such as 'Uncle Tim' or 'Granny Sue'.

If the book is being given as a gift by an adult, the 'adult character' is an ideal place to put the gift-giver's name.

If you can't think of an 'adult' or don't wish to put your name in the book, think about selecting a cartoon, movie or television character.
